ok about a year or so ago i started looking at ruby, but it wasn’t until this week that i actually had the time to dig even deeper. all i can say is WOW! I’m seriously tempted to lock myself in my apt and just do ruby for a few months (but then i’d eventually be hungry).
migrations, the way db’s are handled (i love that i don’t “need” sql, and it’s not db specific), validation, ajax, on and on… I’m making it my top priority to get good in rails ASAP. i love php, but rails has me hooked so far. its just a much better way to handle things in my option. although i have to admit i’m still debating if it’ll replace php for my scripts. but with out a doubt it’s replacing it for applications
once you start working with rails+ruby your just well duh why didn’t someone do this before. hell yeah interacting with the db shouldn’t be dependent on the db type, and migrations blew my mind. hey why spend hours with validation if it can be done in 5-10 minutes?
i still have a few more months of studying to do, but at the moment i’m amazed (more than i originally was a year ago ).
