About a month ago i purchased a hp pavilion. last / this week i finally opened it up to use it.
It uses vista of course, and i’ve been thinking of just leaving it alone (i do need to use windows of 1/3 of what i do). I went of craigslist, found a 74gb raptor, and installed it.
restarted into acronis disk director and cloned the disk. reboot, and guess what? won’t load! WTF? So i do the process in ture image. same result….
ok re-enable the standard hd that came with it: loads fine… standard is c:\
set the raptor to primary boot… works fine raptor is c:\
wipe the standard drive… windows can’t load because a file is not found? WTF!
ok try again, same results. restore standard drive, clone to raptor, wipe standard and load… same issue. clone standard from raptor, standard loads just fine WTF!
so no matter what i do i can’t get this vista to load from the new hd. I’ve tested / checked the new hd and it’s working just fine….
so whats the solution? install ubuntu, beryl, myth tv, and vmware

I couldn’t find the drivers for my tv tuners so i’m back in vista. i’m doing a fresh install, but this thread has a fix that sounds like it should work :
